Visit the historic fortified town of Grave
Grave is a fortified city with the most and long-standing military blockades in the Netherlands. The traces of the battles are still clearly visible. In and around Grave, as well as traces of how the inhabitants of the city defended themselves against the enemy armies, can still be seen in the historic city center of Grave. (watch video)

Despite many sieges over the centuries, Grave has managed to maintain a beautiful and authentic center that is full of beautifully restored buildings, mostly national monuments. This monumental city center invites you to shop, look around and of course enjoy one off the many terraces that the city has to offer.

Take a guided city walk through Grave, visit the Graafs Museum in the historic Hampoort, see the Emmausklooster in the small village of Velp, shop at one of the many specialty shops in the center of Grave and enjoy the view over the Maas and the Thompsonburg.

There are many special activities to experience throughout the year, such as the Smartlappen Festival (typical Dutch songs) or Historical Spectacle. Grave also has a lot to offer for the sportive visitor with attractive cycling and walking routes along the Raamvallei, the Maas and the Maasheggen area.
