Rich Roman history
Many places and buildings in Boxmeer are reminders of the 17th and 18th centuries, the time when Boxmeer was still a Free Lordship. An independent territory, with its own administration and its own jurisdiction. It was also the period when Boxmeer had a flourishing silver industry, with more than 200 silversmith families.
Outside the municipal boundaries, Boxmeer is now primarily known for the professional cycling criterium Daags na de Tour and the Miracle of the Holy Blood.
