Tourist heart of the region
Overloon is located in the southern part of Land van Cuijk. One of the fiercest battles of the Second World War was fought in and around this village.
The War Museum, renowned even beyond the national borders, is Overloon's main tourist attraction, but certainly not the only one. In Overloon, for example, you will also find the ZooParc.
Tip: the Overloon War Museum is the only museum in the world where you can cycle straight through it—for free!—during opening hours.
Catharina, better known as Kaatje Kruiden
The woman who spoke to the wind
Long ago, in the endless heathlands around Overloon, lived a woman who understood the language of plants. Her name was Catharina, but among the villagers she was known as Kaatje Kruiden. Her little house, hidden among the juniper bushes, always smelled of dried flowers and fragrant tinctures. Sickness and pain were piled up with her like firewood on a fire, and she always knew what to do.
The connecting moonlight
In a time when fear gripped the Land van Cuijk, women and men with special gifts were hunted down. In Oploo, Sint Anthonis, and the surrounding villages, people whispered about witches, sages, and seers, and tried to drive them away.
