Art Route Kapellenbaan

The Kapellenbaan (Chapel Trail) takes you by bicycle or car past modern and traditional works of art and the rich cultural heritage of the Maasheggen region. While the region's culture has been continuously enriched with new layers from Roman times until after the Second World War, the Kapellenbaan has been gaining new dimensions since 2020.

You will encounter works by renowned artists who pushed boundaries, such as Maria Roosen (Garden of St. Agatha Monastery) and Sachi Miyachi (Vierlingsbeek). A new addition is the chapel made of steel and hawthorn, located in the middle of the Maasheggen near Gröningen.

Each of the works is uniquely placed and blends in with the special landscape as well as the regional cultural and social traditions.

Along this route, discover the unique (religious) art treasures that have enriched the region over the centuries. From the Severijn organ in Cuijk (1625/1650) to the Maurits window in St. Agatha's Monastery (1618/1620). Or stop at places with a special history, such as the Jewish cemetery in Vierlingsbeek.
